Dandari Indijā



Dandari Geet (Dandari Song) is a folk song sung by the Dhurwa tribe of Bastar region in Chhattisgarh State in India. This song is associated with their community dance. Danda, a pair of sticks is played by the participatns and the song is sung. Each participant plays the danda and sings the song. Lachman Dhurwa is very well known for singing folk songs. He is known as "Geet baihaa", a mad for songs. He lives in the village of Bastar, some 11 k.m. off to Jagdalpur, the district head quarters.
He says, "We have lost our mother-tongue Dhurwi as we now live in the Bhatari region". He sings in Bhatari dialect.
